Tip for dishwasher leakage
« on: January 14, 2020, 12:26:09 PM »
I've been getting leaks on and off for a while, thought it was the door seal which had fallen out and was brittle, so I fixed that.  Still leaked. Turns out it was the pump assembly, the outer o-rings looked fine, but it was leaking through the shaft.

I ordered the new $75 part... but while waiting for it to arrive I decided to follow a hunch. Pulled apart the old pump assembly and generously lubricated the shaft seal with silicone grease.  Put it back together and it is running now without a drop of water! Not sure how long the repair will last, but for 2 cents worth of grease I could have saved my self $75.

Oh well, I'll put the part on the shelf and see how long the lubrication hack works.

Moral of the story, try to work with what you have before ordering the new part. What do you have to loose? Its already broken.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
