Repurposing a 1934 radio....
« on: March 26, 2024, 06:45:16 AM »
....with a Bluetooth receiver/amplifier. A 50 Watt module was $12 and I had a car speaker and a DC adapter hanging around collecting dust. I think I may do the same to a lighted Jack'o Lantern and turn it into a spooky sound source!

I did something similar with a 1960s stereo and TV console. It was a beautiful walnut cabinet but the electronics were shot. I removed all the old electronics and replaced them with a newer turntable and receiver. The TV screen was covered with a tambour door so I made that into storage. I converted the speaker grills to doors and made the space into more storage.

Here are some photos. I did not get a photo of the new electronics installed.

I love this.  I've seen some repurposed stereo cabinets with diarama-style art installations inside, or fishtanks.  so cool!

I love this!  I just did this with a 1941 Zenith console radio and may do the same with the 1960s turntable console that's in my living room.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
