Taking apart top loading washer
« on: March 29, 2015, 08:24:50 AM »
Hi,

Our top loader washer makes our clothes dirtier. I suspect there is an inordinate amount of grit and lint stuck between the plastic tub and the metal basket you put clothes in.

I looked it up online, and it doesn't see too hard to take apart. The only issue for me is to find the required spanner to take out the bolt at the bottom of the metal basket. It looks like this:

I can't find it anywhere in Montreal. QC. Any ideas where I could buy one (or ideally, rent one)?

Thanks,

This may not directly answer your question but could be a good resource:

http://myplasticfreelife.com/2010/09/how-to-take-apart-and-clean-a-stinky-kenmore-whirlpool-top-loading-washer/

Thanks that was actually pretty helpful. It seems to be where the image I posted is from but I used Google Images and hadn't checked the whole page.

I'll check the screwdriver and if not I saw a tool in Canadian Tire that might do the trick. Last resort, I'll buy the part online there http://www.reliableparts.ca/product/inv_TB123A/651846

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
