Subwoofer Blowing Fuses
« on: March 03, 2020, 06:12:45 PM »
Hi!

Looking for some advice here as I miss my bass.

I've had the linked subwoofer for ~11 years.  The fuse recently blew for the first time.  The manufacturer calls for a 1.6A/250V fuse.  I bought the linked fuses.  I've tried 4 of them in the sub and they immediately blow when it's powered up.

I'm wondering what might cause this and how I could diagnose?  Could it be the fact that they're 'Slow Blow'? If so, what kind of fuse should I look for. Also, what could be the consequence(s) of just putting in a higher rated fuse to bypass this issue.

Thanks!

I would post this on a diy audio or electronics forum.

Try here: http://techtalk.parts-express.com/forum/tech-talk-forum

It’s where I go for any diy audio stuff.

You more  than likely have a short somewhere causing more power to flow than the fuse can handle. The possible consequences for putting a higher rated fuse include frying the sub and possibly but unlikely a fire. 2nd the info for parts express forum. Lots of smart people over there
