Ciao, mustachians! I've been wishing for a skylight in my kitchen since I bought my house, and also wanting to learn more construction skills to feel like a more mustachian homeowner. Over the weekend, a brilliant idea came to me - why not entice a fellow mustachian to come to the beautiful city of San Francisco for some fun DIY time?
You: have experience installing skylights and light wells (I think we'll need to build a light well to connect the kitchen ceiling to the roof).
I: have a very nice guest room in the most beautiful and bike-friendly neighborhood of San Francisco. Bring the family!

I always recommend against skylights, unless you're fond of roof leaks, fogged glass, condensation and heat loss.

Thanks Fishindude. I've had no issues with the one in my bathroom, nor any in the house I grew up in. Plus we're in a drought and don't use heat here in SF. :)

I'm a big fan of skylights, put one in my previous house with no issues and am busy putting them in the renovation of my current home too. They do need to be excellent quality, with highly insulated glass, and properly installed.
In the UK we are pretty much at the "hoover" stage for skylights, as Velux (http://www.velux.co.uk/) seems to have most of the market.
