How to fix nicks in drywall
« on: August 07, 2014, 07:39:22 AM »
Inside we have some small but noticeable nicks in our drywall.  I tried taking some speckle on my finger, filling it in, then smoothing with the spackle knife, but it really difficult to get it perfectly smooth.   Any advice?  Do they make some sort of special material for filling in these small dings?

To get it perfectly smooth you will have to let it dry then sand it.  This will probably require repainting the area if you want a truly seamless look.

If your walls are really beat up, you may want to consider skim coating them with joint compound.  Family Handyman has a pretty good how-to:

spackle did it, just needed more than 1 application.
