PVC By the Foot

Anyone know if there is a way to buy PVC pipe in 1 foot segments?  I need a length of 6in and 4in for my aquaponics garden, and 10' of those suckers is expensive!

6" and 4" - schedule 40 is fine

Home Depot will usually allow you to cut it down and only buy what you need. For some diameters, they also have 1 and 2 foot sections available.

The big box store usually have at least 5 foot lengths available and usually in smaller diameters they have even shorter lengths. Though the shorter the piece you buy the higher the price per foot winds up being.

What diameter are you buy or is there some reason (such as location) 10' pvc is expensive where you are; I was just looking at 1-1/4 and 1-1/2 pvc at the local lowe's and they were around 6 and 8 dollars for a 10' length receptivity.

But I see they sell it at HD (which is closeish to work, not nearly as convenient) at $4/foot in 2 foot lengths.

If you really want go cheap, find some construction sites where they are plumbing pipe that thick and go dumpster diving (or ask politely if they have any cutoffs).  Those diameters aren't typically used in SFH, so you're looking for a commercial build site.

Typically anything shorter than a couple feet gets tossed, and you've said you need less than a foot.
FWIW you can get boatloads of rigid insulation scraps and < 2' lengths of framing lumber.
