Replacing 24 inch door, currently pine waiting to be painted.  Decided on getting rid of the old wood style, but need ideas for colors.  Should the ceiling be different color?  Will the trim be easy to replace or to paint separately?  Or am I just opening a can of worms.  I can always just keep the wood, and stain the door to match, but I think the painted paneling and vanity would look really good.   There is no wood paneling anywhere else, except old wood doors with antique style lever handles with white trim.

There was an idea to pain the walls a neutral color, maybe light gray, keep the ceiling wood, and paint the trim white.  The vanity maybe gray?

Each color change requires cutting in, and unless you have very smooth wood, if it is grainy or rough at all, it will take quite a bit of time and be very hard to get perfect.

If you are painting over wood, ensure you choose the right type of paint -- take a door into the paint store to ask, if needed.

Good Luck!

I love your bathroom paneling! It looks like a mountain cabin spa*! Natural looking wall tiles would do more for that bathroom than painting those lovely panels, IMO.

*I am talking about a mountain cabin hot tub room that actually exists and is lovely.

I have white bead board on the lower half of my bath (you have tile) and I painted the upper half a medium gray.  My floors are very dark.  The white lower half (and fixtures) makes the room look larger.

Paint is inexpensive.  Try a few colors.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
