Out door concrete caulking
« on: June 16, 2016, 01:05:42 PM »
Hello all.

Been sprucing up the house a bit lately and I noticed a bit of a low spot in my driveway concrete that tilts towards my house. The water(from rain) settles there and the previous owners obviously have used some caulking or similar substance on the joint between the house's foundation and the concrete. Just looking for some advice on what product to use or any success stories with certain products and what to stay away from.

The house is 1976 I've owned it for a year and no leaks in this spot--- yet. I'm looking for something that survives winter or at least the freeze thaw in the early spring and late fall as I live in mighty Alberta Canada.

Thanks in advance

Clean any of the old sealant out of this joint and off of the adjoining materials.   Fill the joint with fine (silica) sand to a level approx. 3/4" below surface of the concrete slab.  Then fill top of joint with Sonneborne SL-1 self leveling elastomeric sealant.   Same stuff is also made by Masterbuilders.   It comes in standard size or the big 30oz caulk tubes.

Surfaces will have to be clean and dry or it won't stick like it should.
