Vinyl Plank (wood look) flooring
« on: December 05, 2016, 01:56:53 PM »
Any suggestions on what to use?  I am looking hard at TrafficMaster Allure Ultra from Home Depot for $2.49 PSF.  I wish I could get it on sale but am not having much luck.

Any other suggestions?  I would love to find some closeout stuff that would work as good or better but so far have not.

You need to head to a commercial flooring supplier. I did a lot of research while selecting a plank for my motorhome renovation. There are a many better products out there for less than $2.50, and many are being used in light commercial applications ( beauty shops, offices, etc) with great success.  I went with a high end Armstrong plank that was about $2.75, and it's three times the product of anything I saw from Allure.

At my previous home I used Mannington's Adura and LOVED IT. Certainly not the cheapest option, but I would use it again in a heartbeat. I have hardwood floors currently and miss the vinyl...

It seems like the commercial stuff is glue down, maybe just my perception.  I was thinking click/interlocking and floating it on my existing concrete slab (currently has carpet down).

Take a look at https://www.floorstoyourhome.com/

We did a DIY install of 600 sq ft in our basement last year over the concrete slab of one of their click together floating vinyl floors.   No more worries about any seepage or moisture, the stuff has been great.  We did have a bit of water (not a flood) after a big storm and it ran off the floor and down the drain with no ill effect.

Good prices and free delivery.  We are not affiliated, just a satisfied customer.

Thanks for the tip.  I ordered some samples to compare to what Home Depot has to offer.  Seems like higher end products for less.  Crossing fingers.

I ended up heading to a ProSource for LVT.  Got lock and click lvt for under 1.5/sf.   ProSource, I believe, is franchised, so it may be in your area.
