My zero dollar router table
« on: September 22, 2012, 02:46:20 AM »
I've been eyeing up used router tables for a while now, but haven't wanted to spend the $200 to $600 buy one. So I went hunting through my timber pile and put this router table together (mdf and untreated lvl).

Awesome, I will file this away. Some day I'm going to re-do my below-rental-quality kitchen, and I hope to build my own cabinets.

Nice. I also started to get into woodworking. My first project is a book shelf thing with a drawer for the cook books, then recessed shelves of varying complexity. My ultimate goal is also to redo my kitchen and build my own cabinets.

Very nicely done. I can't tell from the picture, but is the fence adjustable? Adjustable fences are useful for things like putting the slot in wood for the bottoms of drawers.

Just a warning. Cabinets are difficult and require quite a variety of router bits to make everything fit together.

Thanks for the warning. There's a place near here that has offered a class, and I have a while to learn. I'm hoping the simplicity of the craftsman style I want to make isn't too deceptive a simplicity. I would want a simpler version of something like this.

I couldn't be bothered making an adjustable fence, so instead the entire router top is replaceable.

For what I'm making I only need one top with a fence, and one top with no fence.
