Is this a Moen?

I want to replace the shower handle and faucet, but the brand name isn't printed anywhere. My understanding is that you have to purchase the same brand that you're replacing or the cartridge won't fit properly.

For this one, I've just got the flower logo. It's shower hardware from the 1980s. I vaguely remember a plumber once telling me that it was a Moen, but I'm not totally sure.

Have you tried doing a search for visually similar images?  I tried but couldn't make it work.

I have never installed a Moen that didn't have their brand prominently displayed on the handle or the trim plate. Not to say that such a thing doesn't exist, but I have yet to pull one out of a box, install it, and not see the word "Moen" staring at me. I would shut the water off to the fixture and pull the knob and plate off, then see if you find any additional information hidden inside. Next pull the cartridge and take it to a plumbing supply house and ask if they can identify it. I've rebuilt 100 year old fixtures before, so chances are, if you find the right guy, with the right knowledge, you will get your replacement parts.

I would say yes ..... that is a Moen.

Have replaced a few cartridges over the years and the moens all looked like that.

If you have local hardware stores that carry cartridges the best option is turn off the water and pull the cartridge, take it to the store and match it with a replacement.
Pulling the cartridges can be difficult especially if your water is hard or its been installed for a long time.  I bought a cartridge pulling tool years ago which makes the job much easier.
For this one, pry off the plastic decorative plate with the flower and there will be a single screw underneath.  Remove that and pull the handle straight off.  The cartridge is then exposed and can be pulled out ... use a vise grips if you dont have the cartridge puller.

Thanks! Yep, I think I'll just remove the cartridge and take it to a plumbing supply place and ask them.
