iPhone on PagePlus
« on: February 04, 2013, 11:43:35 AM »
So I signed up for page plus (1200 mins, 3000 text,  and 250 MB of data) for $29.99.   Ported the phone number over and everything worked GREAT.   The iPhone was given to my wife so I did a restore to factory settings via iTunes to clear out all information.   ANNNND... the phone is now a brick.   I tried the restore with multiple computers and multiple sync cords.

Do you think activating the phone on PagePlus had anything to do with the bricking?  I've considered jailbreaking, but I don't think that's an option since it was running the latest IOS version (6.1).   The restore fails during the firmware upgrade and returns a -1 error code.

Any ideas would be appreciated.  I was so frustrated that I was about to go out and buy a new iPhone 5 along with a new contract.  I know that is a horrible idea, but damn was it tempting.

That's interesting. What exactly do you mean by its a brick? It wont even come on or it asks to be activated? Also I assume its a 4 or 4s? Ive never reset from Itunes but I have done an erase all info from an Iphone on the phone and didn't have any problems.

I dont think its a page plus problem but I cant really be sure.

Did you try calling PagePlus customer support? I had a similar problem with porting my Nexus S from Sprint to Ting and customer support was able to re-program it correctly for me.

Not gonna happen, the iPhone isn't on the approved list of handsets for Page Plus, let alone supported.

What you've described is quite vague in nature. Given the order of things and the description, though, it sounds like corrupt firmware or damaged memory in the phone itself. I'd take it to your local Apple store and see what their support has to say.

Finally, it's just a phone. You're probably upset because of the total cost of money invested in the fool thing, and the answer is not going out and spending another $600 on a phone when your current one snuffs it. If it's dead, let it go and buy a cheaper phone.

Best advice yet.

I am hoping to do this very soon with a Verizon iPhone 4s. If there's anyone else out there who has had any experience porting a 4s to PagePlus - good or bad - I'd love to hear about.

Best of luck to powersln getting yours back up.

Update: finally ported my Verizon iPhone 4s to PagePlus.  I did it via Beigephone.  So far, so good. $29.99 plan. No changes in anything that I can tell so far. Autopay billing is via PayPal.
