I REALLY hope the dryer is fixed TODAY!
« on: December 21, 2013, 08:33:35 AM »
Our 23 yr old dryer is not heating.  My dh ordered the parts and installed them (coil & fuse) - still no heat.  Waiting on more parts today.  Wish us luck!

No, we can't hang things to dry outside in winter in New England! (Well maybe today if the snow melts.)

It's FINALLY fixed!! $100 Total

Shipping - $12 first pkg (2 day), $25 second pkg (overnight which did NOT come overnight Sat. but Monday); if it wasn't the holiday week/winter we would NOT rushed the shipping and paid so much

We used this to fix it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ioyEkXiyXYQ

So... can you explain a bit more?  What was the problem?  What did you think it was that it wasn't, based on what assumptions etc.  And, what did it end up being and how did you figure this out?  This additional information will help others when it's their turn.

And... congratulations!

Most common dryer problems are fixed with around $20 (replacement parts) and a multy tester, its really easy.
If youre motor or timer is bad ,these 2 components are expensive.buy another used dryer.unless you can get the parts used for cheap.
Sometimes all they need is a good cleaning.

Congrats on the fix!

Dryers are surprisingly simple on the inside. I had a recent fix on mine at home that was eating my clothes. Wrote a quick article about it with some pics HERE
