I am posting this because I have received so much valuable info from this site that I hope it helps someone. I have a 17 yo Thermador double wall oven. They no longer make parts for it so I have to rely on repurposed EBay parts if I can find them. I have, over the past several years replaced the hinges and the control board.
Recently, the oven started beeping randomly after shutting off the heat and giving a F24 error code. This implies one or more of the touchpad keys are sticking or malfunctioning, but all were still working and the ovens were fully functional. After a couple months, the key that toggles to the bottom oven would no longer work, so I could not turn on the lower oven.
I did some digging around on fix it forums and the usual repairman answer was to replace the touchpad and/or the control panel or kick it to the curb cause it would be too expensive to fix. As I dug deeper, some diy types used canned air to clean the connections and made sure everything was plugged in well. I should add that a used touchpad was $600 on EBay and a new oven of this type more than $6000.
I removed the touchpad panel, cleaned the dust out, made sure all the harnesses were secure (one or two seemed a bit loose) and voila’. Both ovens now work, no beeping and no error code.
This also is worth a try for any touchpad on any appliance. Many appliances have ribbon connectors that get dirty or oxidized on the ends. The typical method of cleaning is using a pink eraser, but mine didn’t have this type.
