Title: How to replace closet carpet?
Post by: tkaraszewski on February 19, 2013, 04:32:46 PM
My linen closet has been missing the carpet since I bought the house. I'd like to replace it. Since it's in a closet, and it adjoins a hallway with wood floors, the carpet doesn't have to perfectly match the carpet in the bedrooms or anything. It's also only about 2 feet square, so maybe I can get a scrap somewhere for cheap? If so, how do I install it? I've never installed carpet before.

Here's a picture of the closet floor:

Doesn't really answer your question but what about pulling out the foam and nails and painting the plywood below and sealing?  Would probably be easier to clean in the long run.

For a closet I'd just clean up all the old carpet etc and put down carpet tiles, which are cheap and easy to cut and lay.

I need to put down carpet in my closets. In closets carpets keep the space cleaner as they stop all that crap blowing in and getting stuck in the corners.
