Get rich with... five gallon buckets!
« on: July 01, 2012, 07:45:19 PM »
I've found myself using five gallon buckets to solve more and more problems over the past year. I wanted to share some of my creative solutions online so I built www.fivegallonideas.com. I know any mustachian worth his salt already uses these around the house - I'd love to hear what you use them for!

Cool site! I can see myself using a lot of these!

We use five gallon buckets to make compost tea. I hauled dirt w/ a couple 5 gallon buckets while getting our garden together this Spring, since we didn't have a wheel barrow.

This is super badass (combines an underused/nearly free resource and some engineering principles)! Thanks for compiling these ideas! I'll definitely be checking in on your blog regularly for updates.

I'd love to hear what you use them for!
Coiled storage of electrical extension cords.  Just pull them out as needed, like twine from a twine ball, and neatly restow when finished.

I just got really tired of untangling the 100+ feet of connected cords every time we wanted to do yardwork with a weedwhacker, lawn mower, or reciprocating saw.  It's especially embarrassing having poorly-coiled lines when you're a Navy family...

I love the boat, I was hoping to make a floating raft for the kids to play on in the lake with my buckets, but a boat would be even cooler.
