Hi guys,

I am in the middle of doing a DIY kitchen remodel and I discovered (unfortunately for me) that Ikea is cancelling their Akurum line of kitchen cabinets in the US and replacing them with a new version in Feb 2015.  This, coupled with some sort of production issue, has made it very hard to find all the parts (particularly doors) in their stores or on the website.   They are going to be having a sale starting in Oct to get ride of the remaining stock and then will be discontinuing the line completely after i think they said 8 months.

Their website has an announcement about it but their link was broken, so i don't know more then that. (No idea how this is going to work to hunt down the last 2 sets of cabinet doors i'm missing, or what it means for the warranty).  You can check out the new line online by going to the UK version of Ikea.   Not sure if they will be compatible or not, but thought i'd give everyone fair warning if you are considering getting them.

(that being said, anyone who can find a set of 15x30 and 15x24 grey lidi cabinet doors, please contact me! :)  )

Yes, it's true and here's what I found http://www.thekitchn.com/ikea-is-changing-their-kitchen-system-akurum-to-be-replaced-by-sektion-210635.  Lidingo? The 15 x30 is most likely in stock at my here in Centennial Colorado but not the 15x 24. I need something to do tomorrow let me know. I can get the smaller in white "most likely"

I needed some discontinued IKEA doors and ended up finding some in stock all the way across the country.  I used taskrabbit to have them picked up and shipped to me!  Just throwing it out there as an option.

That is a great idea!!! Thank you!  They said they will have them in stock for at least 8 months but then another store told me there's a problem with the manufacturer and they are having problems restocking.   That being said though, the one store told me all the displays (and appliances and countertops) will be put into as-is in the next few months as they redo displays so good time to get some deals!

The UK Ikea site FAQ's says the new design is absolutely most definitely not backwards compatible. We were looking at doing our kitchen towards the end of this year (I know it's nearly that time, but buying stuff sometime in the next couple of months...), but we're going to wait now until the new line comes in down here (no idea when that will be). We still have one hotplate working on the stove.

Finger's crossed they have an intro offer on the new line like the 20% off we've seen on Akurum for the last few years.
