Title: Foundation repair: concrete piers or steel?
Post by: gillamnstr on July 07, 2017, 06:45:52 AM
Hi all!

I have a stupid backyard which over time has formed an incline, so now the lowest point in the yard is my back door. The back has sunk a good inch in a few places. I live in Louisiana, so it rains a lot - I'm considering a French drain or dry well to deal with the water.

I received two quotes:

5 concrete piers for $2500
5 steel piers for $3600

We're planning on keeping the house for a while. From what I've read, the steel is better long term because it goes down to bedrock? Does anyone have any additional insight on how I should base a decision?

Thanks in advance!!!

It is impossible to say without the details. But concrete doesn't rust.
