Hey guys,

Just wondering where you get your flat rubber wash assortments for cheap. This is primarily for replacing garden hose washers as well as hose bibs. Better just to buy 10 packs for each? I'm not even sure what size to go with... for the hose bibs, I'd be inclined to remove the bib and bring the washer into the store to match - problem is, I don't want to turn and leave the water to our house off while my wife is home with the kids in order to do something like that.

What I've come across thus far on Amazon:

At least for garden hose washers, I simply buy the ten pack like what I linked below and stick the extra in my parts bin so when spring comes and I'm hooking everything up, I have replacements as needed.

For other washers, I rarely need them and there is such a wide variety used, I just take the old one in to the hardware store and match it. I'm lucky that I still have an old fashioned hardware store though where I can buy single items like that. Many big box stores force you to buy a bag of them even if you only need one.

Up here in cold country, we usually have shutoffs for the outside bibs, so we could use that to take our time. You might see if you have outside water shutoffs as well (perhaps via a second meter or ball valves). Alternately, you could shutoff the water, take the bib apart, take the washer or washer bones off, put the stem back in, hook up a hose with a spray handle (that itself is shut off) and turn the house water back on.

I tend to buy something like this at the home center for hoses:
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Orbit-Hose-Washer-and-O-Ring-Combo-Pack-27937/100659295 (under $1.50 in my area)
https://www.homedepot.com/p/DANCO-5-8-in-Hose-Washers-10-Pack-80787/203193507 (under $2)

And to buy a couple different washer assortments at the home center as well and toss them in the "plumbing box" for later, rather than having to make a trip to the home center with a part in my hand each time I have a leaking shutoff or hose bib.

Aren't garden hoses and thus the bibs a standard size?  Grab a hose in the store and carry it over to the washer section

The washers inside the hose bib/spigot are not a standard size.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
