Fixing cracked plaster and molding
« on: December 22, 2022, 02:45:49 PM »
Hey guys, anyone have any experience fixing a textured plaster wall flaking off? A picture fell off the wall and hit the molding pushing it down and pulling some flakes of plaster away from the wall. Should I just pull the molding off, and glue the plaster flakes back on with joint compound and then reinstall the molding? This is a 100 year old house and the plaster is like an inch of 2 thick layer right on the exterior brick wall. Do I just install the molding with trim nails in the plaster or do I need to use some kind of masonry anchor into the brick?

You on reddit? If not, go on reddit, to r/centuryhomes and ask. I don't have experience with plaster on brick, but I can tell you that matching that texture is going to be impossible.
