Fixed my espresso maker
« on: June 09, 2014, 11:58:15 AM »
Just posting this to show off really. My delonghi espresso maker had stopped working, with water just coming out of everywhere. A quick google search diagnosed it as a broken seal likely caused by a lime scale build up. I bought a new seal and after watching an instructional on youtube,  fitted it, took everything apart and gave it a good clean and put some descaler through it. Works great.  A year ago I would have thrown it out and bought a new one.

Nice!  I wonder if the repair could be avoided if you had de-scaled it yearly or whenever the manual recommends.   Not picking on you, I haven't done it to mine yet.

I did the white vinegar treatment and was horrified at how disgusting my machine was :)  Kudos to you for fixing it yourself!  And that wouldn't have been a cheap machine to fix!  You earned your mustache today!

Thanks guys, was v satisfying. And yes, descaling in the first place would def have prevented it. A stitch in time etc.
