Hello,

This just happened. I was driving and then the service alert information display started cycling through "Check TPMS System," then "Check Emission System" follow by others. I pulled into a gas station. The sliding doors in the back no longer worked and the key goes to the accessory position but does not go beyond that so it can be taken out of the ignition so the car is stuck like that in park. The car also doesn't start now. I did get it towed to a service station (they were able to over-ride and get the car into neutral), but the key is stuck in it I haven't been able to find anything on this so far but it seems like some kind of security shutdown. Anyone familiar with this or know how to get it out of this mode?

Thanks in advance.

I have heard that there are several generations of Honda's with key stuck in the ignition problems. This can cause warning lights to flash depending on what position the key is in. Generally the solution is to wiggle the gear selector, taking it out of park using the override button which the towing service did and putting it back into park. They say the gear selector is not getting all the way into park which won't allow the key to be released. I would focus on this problem first and see if that makes all the others go away before digging into them.

Thanks lthenderson.  That makes a lot of sense as a possible cause of this problem.  I have had it at the mechanic's all day on Friday and by mid-day they indicated that they had not yet been been able to figure out the problem yet.  I'll follow up on Monday and pass on what you indicated that perhaps there's an issue with the gear selector not getting all the way into park.  They said it might otherwise need a new computer but they wanted to rule everything else out that they could before going that route.  Thanks for the helpful insights.
