DIY windshield repair

I bought a 08 Matrix a few months back.  Probably the worst issue with it is that it has not one, not two, but THREE nice windshield dings.  (I know: first world problems!)

Does anyone have any experience with the windshield repair kits?  I tried this one on the medium sized ding.  The fix is slightly better, but still lacking.

I'm a hack, but the best windshield repair I've seen is the Blue Star stuff.  None of those epoxies are really going to perfectly repair the windshield.  You are just looking to prolong the life of the windshield before it cracks to pieces and needs to be replaced.
