concrete bird bath pedestal...
« on: February 28, 2016, 11:46:59 AM »
Okay, still have the pedestal.
The concrete bowl broke and it beyond gluing back.
Anyone have any suggestions on getting another bowl or something else?
TIA

HOw many pieces are there?  some thinset mortar should be able to stick it back together if it is just a few pieces.  Just don't push them together too tight.  Then seal with something.  I don't know what to seal with, maybe shellac?

Set a potted plant on it.

Put it in the flower bed with some kind of pretty vine planted in a pot that you put on top of it--adds height to the look of your garden. Or perhaps a lantern on top of it, and you could light a candle in it at night--might look nice. Or get one of those round bird baths that's meant to just sit on the ground, and put it on top of your pedestal, if you can find one that would look nice.

When I was a kid I super-glued one of those things back together. It lasted several seasons before it failed again. Try that and then some sort of concrete waterproofing.

Seems like a very cheesy suggestion on my part but that bird bath ready did stay together with no other waterproofing. I was about 11-12 yrs old when I did that fix.
