Cleaning AC Evaporator Coils - Need Help!
« on: May 25, 2015, 09:30:28 AM »
Based on ruling out alternatives, I believe that the cause of a musty smell coming from my HVAC unit is coming from the evaporator coils.

2 Questions:
1. I don't see an easy way to access the unit to clean the coils. Should all AC units be accessible to do so and I'm just looking in the wrong place?
2. What is the best way to clean it without rusting the unit or putting toxic chemicals/vapors into it, which would then blow through the house?

You've checked the drip pan under the coils for retained water?  That's where algae freq. forms & smells

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
