Cellulose blown insulation

Do I have to crawl through the attic, or can I just shove the hose in there if my attic is fairly clear of trusses and other shit? I'm thinking of shoving it in the ..... gable vent? This thing:



Because I only have to insulate one room with one gable vent, and a couple that are on the other side of the house with its own vent. It'll be a 90 degree bend in the blowing tube to hit both of those rooms.

Thoughts?

Did you check to make sure you have proper air sealing and ventilation? If not, adding cellulose will be a waste of cash...

You generally will want to install some barrier around the vents that you have (like that gable vent or the soffit vents that you have). This prevents the insulation from covering the barriers and also prevents wind washing (where wind cuts up under the insulation and reduces the effectiveness of it).

No, you've got to go in. To ensure even coverage, complete coverage, and since it just doesn't blow that far out of the hose. Air sealing important but the cellulose is touted as offering a barrier to air movement. I would air seal first which is also a fire spread barrier.

I've done it and wouldn't do it again.  I think it has a high potential to be a serious health risk.  Google blown-in cellulose insulation for studies on toxicity and air quality.
