I'm so tired of buying things that just fall apart, I thought of making my own.
Meteor, did you end up making/buying a pair of shoes? If you're still thinking about it, it's quite possible to make your own. It depends on how much sewing experience you have, though.
If you're relatively new to sewing (like me), it would be a fun project, but the final product probably won't last any longer than the mid-level quality shoes you'd buy at a store. I just happened to make my first pair of cloth shoes last week from
these instructions, and I'm happy with the result. The instructions were confusing (to me, at least) at times... feel free to ask if you have any questions.
As you can see, they're not the most refined product. If you're up for the challenge (or already have great sewing skills), go for it. It's rewarding. If you're still new to sewing and you just want a long-lasting product, this might not be for you. Let us know what you end up doing!
