Building a snow sled
« on: July 22, 2017, 02:06:17 AM »
So it's winter in the Southern Hemisphere. Rather than buy a sled to slide around in the snow I though I'd build some for my kids.

Materials to make two sleds.
1x old snowboard (I had snapped a bolt in one of the binding holes).
4x eye bolts
4x countersunk bolts
3x meters of rope

Instructions.
1. Cut sled in half (you'll need a metal blade to cut through the steel edging). I used a Bosch multi tool (with a combined wood/metal blade), and clamped a piece of wood to the centre of the board to use as a straight edge.
2. Drill two holes either side of the lip
3. Mount eye bolts
4. Tie rope into a loop, melt frayed edges with a match.

And here's a photo of one of the completed sleds. Will add an action picture next time we're up in the mountains.

Final addition will be some stomp pad stickers to where the bum sits, to reduce the likely hood of sliding off.
