I have done this a few times, but I always check rockauto.com before proceeding. The last time I needed rotors, the discounted price at advance, for their bottom of the barrel, house brand rotors was MORE that I paid to have rockauto ship their best ones to my door. Naturally a dead battery isn't something that can wait, but there can be huge savings if you have a few days to wait for the parts to show up at your door.

AAP "Wearever" rotors are total garbage
--- I'm liking what I get from Raybestos and Wagner via rockauto....

Rockauto prices are so good that even my regular mechanic orders from them for his personal cars....

I can't agree more, they are not worth dragging out of the store, even if they gave them out for free. A while back I had a car that was eating rotors. At that time, AA was giving a warranty against warping on their "Wearever" house brand rotors. After several sets, I ended up is a loud conversation with a store manager about not honoring a printed warranty, and never bought another one. I switched to Raybestos's best rotor and the problem went away.

Years ago I worked for AAP. Be sure to have any electrical parts tested by the store (test bench) before you leave the store. We had a rash back then of DOA parts new in the box.

Their entry level rotors were crap too. Mine warped again within 30 days. I bought better from elsewhere and they stayed right. Customer measured the thickness of the rotors with a caliper AAP sold in the white box and they were thinner than the OEM 200K mile rotors he had on his little truck. He just started shaking his head and said "send them back".

My point is that at the time AAP seemed to be more concerned about profit than quality parts. I don't know if that is the same now or whether they are any different than other brand stores.

TRT30 promo code --- 30% off..buy online and pickup in store ---you can order online from your phone in the parking lot if you need to....
-- some restrictions-- not many though...

Just got a new battery for my Elantra--- for ~$85---best price around----store price is 119.99.....

and I didn't have to suffer the indignation of going into a Walmart....I save that for when I want SuperTech oil, etc....

Again the Advance Auto discount comes through.... TRT30 promo code --- 30% off..buy online and pickup in store....

plus I got a coupon for $5 off any purchase over $30 in the future.... you can use the TRT30 code with coupons....

mail to home is possible, but I'd hit rockauto.com for mail order

A few years ago I had an odd experience with online purchase for store pick up at Advance Auto. I used the online discount code but when I was in the store they wanted me to sign the sales slip for the full amount.

They said my credit card would be billed the discounted amount. I told them no damn way I'd sign that. So they put the discounted amount on the sales slip.

A week later, I saw on my credit card statement that I had indeed got a double discount. The online one and the one the store gave me.

I expected them to catch the error and charge my card the correct amount. A month went by, and that didn't happen.

So I went to the store to settle up. I figured that they would remember me so I looked for the same parts man. He was off that day, but one of the other guys did remember me.

Here's where it gets odd. I could not convince them to take the $30 that I had inadvertently nicked them for. They just said to keep it and they would write it off for “customer satisfaction”.

I've got to admit, I did walk out of the store a happy customer, but after that I have not done any more on line purchases with Advance Auto. I do still shop there at the brick and mortar.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
