Ants have invaded my car!
« on: July 17, 2015, 11:11:16 AM »
How do I get rid of them? I've vacuumed the car out and even sprayed some Raid in there. It killed the ants I directly sprayed it on, but otherwise, I don't think there's been much effect. I'm told bait traps can work. Is that true? Fwiw, I also started parking in a different spot, far away from where I noticed ants congregating.

Look for Terro liquid ant killer.  You put a couple drops on small pieces of cardboard from the package the liquid comes in.  The ants will eat the drops and take the poison back to the colony.  After a couple days they will all be dead.  Try to put the pieces of cardboard where you see them traveling in a line.  Once the ants find the drops they go tell their buddies and there will be a bunch of them getting the drops.  It should be in an orange package.

Do you live on the Gulf coast? If so, you might have crazy ants. They are attracted to electrical systems. Very difficult to get rid of.

Bait traps do work. I actually think they work best of any remedy. If the ants persist, then it's likely that they have set up their nest somewhere inside your car. They will take the bait back to the nest and kill the rest.

I'm a big fan of Amdro.  Ants take it back to the nest, they all eat it (including the queen), and they all die.
