The problem with bike pumps is they don't put out much volume of air because they are made to inflate skinny little bike tires.   Takes a whole lot of pumps to do much on a big automobile tire.
Standard little 120v shop air compressors can be purchased pretty cheap and will pump up tires fast, also handy for inflatable water toys, blowing things clean like your chain saw, etc.   Purchase one and it will probably last your lifetime.

I misread this and at first thought: “you have an inflatable chainsaw?!”

Four years later, and I still don't see any reason to use anything other than a bike pump for airing up car tires.

I'm an offroader and air my Wrangler's 295-70-17 tires down to 20 psi when at the beginning of the trail.  Afterwards, I use a cheapo lighter powered small compressor and get it started first, as I put stuff away, re-connect my sway bar end links and such.  It's slow and takes a good 20 or more minutes to get up to 25 psi at which I can drive home.  I then go up to 30 in my garage (I have a large, stand up 220 V compressor there).  For a car, these little compressors are fine as the volume of air is far less than my Jeep's offroad tires.  I can't imagine using a foot pump for a car.  If you really don't have a lighter, you can still get a lighter powered compressor and cut off the lighter plug and solder on some bigger alligator clamps.  Many compressors come with alligator clamps already.  Places from Harbor Freight to Home Depot all have these things.  Under $50 should easily do what you're looking to do.  I have no idea what mine cost.  My dad had it and when he passed, I got it.  It's one of those combo compressor/light things.

The cheapy air compressor from Harbor Freight is amazing. With coupons you get a totally functional compressor for car tires, brad nailers, light air tools, and it's really light and easy to carry around the house, all for <$50. I love it.
