I've had three, and just bought my mom one for Christmas. They are GREAT for starting seeds for a summer garden if you get the seed starting kit and don't use theirs. Also great when you can't winter garden but want fresh herbs in the winter. Bonus being they will be full sized and ready for the garden in the spring. You can usually pick them up on craigslist for a fraction of the cost. Only reason I got rid of mine was moving to FL but if you want full on salad production, get a commercial grow light for a similar cost.
