My New 1000% Annual Return-on-Investment Clothes Dryer
« on: April 30, 2013, 05:49:38 PM »
Does anyone have a hack for the static electricity that comes with air drying your clothes?

I live in Northern Nevada, which is dry enough that sometimes walking barefoot across a carpeted room results in visible static electricity. Ouch!

We air dry lots at my house but haven't solved this particular challenge. Yet.

How about you?

I've never noticed any static electricity with air drying, to be honest.

Dryer sheets! That completely solves the problem for me. I air dry my clothes, but I put sheets and towels through the dryer and dryer sheets make a HUGE difference.

Yeah, I think it has to be a high desert thing. The summer I moved here (when I was 15), I killed several TVs and all our alarm clocks just by touching them. Great big blue sparks everywhere!

My current predicament isn't nearly as dramatic, just awkward: clingy dresses and sweaters that feel like they're full of pins and needles, that sort of thing.

Here's hoping someone has solved this already!

They make anti static cling spray but I'm pretty sure it's just watered down detergent, just like anti static for your hair is just watered down conditioner.
