Credit card churning spreadsheet?
« on: November 04, 2014, 11:02:49 AM »
Someone asked about this in the comments on the blog post, but there was no response.  Any churners out there that will share what categories they track in their spreadsheet?  Not sure of everything that I should consider keeping track of.  Thanks!

The Key Items that I track for each of my cards are the following
-Payment Due Date - I keep a note of this date just in case a small balanced ended up showing on the statement close.
-Closing Statement Date - The day before this date you would want to pay down your balance to $0 before it closes.
-Acount Open Date - I usually just track the month I first applied here. That way I know when my time period for my bonus ends and when my yearly annual fee is coming up.
-Yearly Annual Fee Cost - I look at the benefits of the card vs this annual fee cost and decide whether I want to keep the card or not.
-Balance Owed - I try to update this area on a daily basis because I want to stay within my budget for the month.

As for minimum spending amounts, time period deadline of bonus,  and bonus amounts. I usually don't keep a track of those but it's a good idea to keep in mind. When I apply for credit cards each quarter I'll focus on hitting that minimum spending amount first before reverting back to my daily driver credit cards. Since I update my balance owed on a daily basis I can see how much I am off before I hit that threshold.

I have a lot more items I keep track but these are the key items that I would suggest taking a look into.
