PSA - check that you are registered to vote.  I have lived in Ontario for almost 20 years.  I just checked and I am not registered at either my new address (moved in August) or my old address (lived there from July 2022 to August 2024).  There is no reason for me not to be listed.

I did the online registration and it should be fixed, but if I was not registered that means anyone could be not registered.

You can check here:

Please for the love of God, remember the hundreds of things Ford has done to damage the province over the past years and not the couple weeks of tough talk with Trump.

Doug Ford said he had ripped up the contract with Starlink (Elon Musk's company) about the tariffs - didn't use the word cancelled.  Apparently he has uncancelled it.

As a former Ottawa resident I hated the way he handled the Freedumb convoy*, he didn't give a flying f about Ottawa.  If he had handled it properly we would not have had to invoke the emergency measures act.  He only cared once the bridge to the US was blocked and it financially hurt Ontario and his buddies.

*Just to remind people, the Freedumb convoy's memo of intent was to overthrow the federal government.  https://www.netnewsledger.com/2022/02/05/the-canada-unity-memorandum-of-understanding/

He's an old-style Conservative - he panders to his buddies and makes money for them.  There is footage of him fine with trump's election - he only cared when trump would hurt his fiefdom.

Ontario Nature has a page for people who care about what he has done with the Ontario environment.  Plus he is not doing what needs done for Lake Simcoe, you know, that large lake just north-east of the GTA.  The one that Orillia, child-hood home of Gordon Lightfoot, borders on.

I checked, anyone can register for this Zoom meeting.
Ontario Nature - Our Environmental Legacy in Ontario: Your Role in the Snap Election Webinar Invite

I hope the link works.

https://us06web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_hGtSbAVeTnGu35nvg3n9Lg#/registration

It's on, over 25 participating, 500 signed up to watch the recording later.

It's over, very interesting and informative.  Main focus was on housing, since proper housing policy has lots of positive environmental effects.  Not to mention preserving farmland at a time when growing our own food will be more important than ever (thanks trump).

If anyone didn't sign up and would like to see it, I think when I get the recording I can share it.

So has everyone received their voting card?  Are you sure you are registered - and if you are not, do you have the necessary ID to vote?  Do you know your polling location?  Have you checked your local candidates?  Are you going to vote so we get voting numbers well above the (absolutely pathetic) 43% that showed up for the 2022 election?

Gets on soapbox:

Re our beloved (/s) Premier - not only has he not actually cancelled the Starlink contract, for all his "support for Canada" he wants to use The Boring Company that digs tunnels to build a tunnel under the 401. Guess who founded The Boring Company? Musk. Ford will sell us out, too. He is better than Danielle Smith, but not by much.

Gets off soapbox:

VOTE!!!!!!

A long time ago my friends and I were drinking, and I came up with a drunken solution for traffic on the 401.  It was - double decker highways!  Just build a second layer over the first one.  The lower layer would never need snow clearing because it's covered!  The upper level could be a fast way to blast through the city if you just want to get from one end to the other!  And as dumb, expensive, and impractical as that idea was . . . it's still a better idea than tunneling under the length of the 401.

Please for the love of God, vote Ford and his idiot ideas out.

Isn't that the Gardiner Expressway?   ;-)

My riding is Conservative provincially and federally.  I miss Ottawa.  I even miss Quebec.

VOTE!!!!!!

We went as a family and voted in the early poll. No lineup or waiting.  Everyone in my family had gotten a voter card in the mail the day before  but me, I just used my drivers license and was able to vote with the rest of the family.

We finally got our voting cards yesterday.   We were prepared to just go and register on voting day, but this should save a little time.   We don't like any of the candidates in our riding, so the conundrum is how to vote strategically.   Who has the best chance of winning?   We honestly don't know.

Definitely NOT voting for Doug Fucking Ford.  Never have, never will.    I think he will win again, but it won't be with our help.

I think he messed up giving us the money first, he should of had it only cashable after he wins.

If the polls are to be believed, it doesn’t seem like he messed up.

Well today is the day where we get to see if Ontario voters pay attention.

It would be nice (she says wistfully)  if we get more than 43% turnout.

The answer is most likely going to be no.  So, do I throw my vote away voting for the second runner liberal in my area who has little chance of winning, NDP who have slightly less chance, or to the green party who has a snowball's chance in hell?

Locally I'm voting NDP because the Liberal candidate is a last-second choice, they weren't at all prepared. The NDP got their candidate in soon after the PC candidate and the candidate is solid.

This whole election sucks. Even if I had no other reason to dislike him (let me count the ways) I would be voting ABC just because of how Ford did this.

Edit. Just voted. There was lineup.  Workers said its been busy all morning.   Lady behind d me was pusswx about his spa.

Also voting ABC here. I have no idea what polling is showing for my riding, but we're usually Liberal; we went NDP the last time.

The only party that has canvassed in my neighborhood is the NDP. I was able to make the canvasser really happy when she asked whether the party could count on my vote. The Liberals lost me with that bus with the health care numbers on it. If you can't be bothered to verify the accuracy of your statistics, then how can I trust you to run the government?

I'm in a condo so no door-to-door.  Also nothing in our mail from any of the parties.

I would bet most parties focused money on online/media ad's rather than direct mail.

Our former sitting member (NDP) had a card in my mailbox the day after the election was called. An NDP worker also dropped one off this morning, telling me to make a plan to vote, call if I needed a ride, etc.

Just came back from voting. The station was quiet at that moment, but I asked the poll worker whether it had been busy. She said yes, and that she was really happy about it.

I helped the NDP candidate put up their signs, and that's how I would prefer to vote too...

But our current MPP is one of the rare Liberal MPPs, and has a better chance of winning I think - so Liberal it shall be. 🤞

I believe this site tries to answer the question of which party has the best chance of beating the conservatives in each riding. https://votewell.ca/

Probably too late at this point...

It says Liberal for my riding.  Which means most likely first past the post will give us a conservative again.

Not all counted, but my area has conservatives winning by over 50% each.

We don't even have the excuse of split votes.

Fuck I hate first past the post.

My riding it wouldn't have made a difference.   But it will be interesting to see how many ridings would be different with it once the final counts are out.

Time to push the feds/Liberals hard to live up to that old election promise.

I wanted NDP.

I helped the NDP candidate put up signs.

I voted Liberal...because it seemed obvious that in Kanata-Carleton the riding's best chance of defeating the PCs would be the Liberals.

The riding was won by the Liberals (the NDP were not even close).

First-past-the-post sucks!!!

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
