Our sons are Canadian citizens by birth, but do not yet have their Canadian citizenship certificates. Processing times have risen dramatically from apparently about two months back in the day to up to two years at present (according to a NY-based Canadian consulate employee a while back, apparently due to overwhelming demand for urgent processing from Afghani and Ukrainian applicants). Plus, there is no guarantee time frames won't get even worse, going forward.
We may be able to get health insurance for our sons via the province of Alberta effective right away, despite not yet having those certificates. But, until we move there and apply we won't know for certain. So, as part of our due diligence it's important to find private health insurance companies that offer comprehensive health insurance policies for children for up to two years (ie: policies that cover what provincial medical service plans would cover, for two young boys under 10 years old).
After a noticeable amount of time searching, so far I've only found private health insurance policies that cover what provincial medical insurance does not. Also, I telephoned Allianz Global Assistance because there's a thread in this forum with a very favorable review for them. I was told point blank that they only do travel insurance and what we'd like to receive a quote for isn't something they do.
Perhaps somebody here knows already with whom I should be starting a conversation. An good insurance broker who handles international medical insurance would be a particularly good starting point, in case somebody knows of one or more. Such information would be most helpful and appreciated.
