Was just reading a post in the US taxes forum, where US folks can deduct mileage for the drive to a volunteer gig. Does such a thing exist in Canada? The only deduction I can find is if you're a volunteer firefighter or search and rescue. I live in a rural area, so getting anywhere involves some mileage. DH said he'd be interested in driving for Meals on Wheels, but with the price of gas, that's an expensive 'donation' without any tax receipt. I don't mean to sound uncharitable, but if I'm donating my time and very expensive fuel, I'd like to get some compensation.
