Oooo...I LOVE LOVE LOVE the sound of this. And yes, price matching is the best :) Love that we don't have to half flyers around either and can just show the app!

Crossing my fingers that this wine conflict with any other breakout sessions I must attend. Although I know it will be a tough choice regardless

There is never any wine conflict with me. Sharing is caring.

ROFL - I love how autocorrect decided wine was a much better word :)

Don’t fight fate - have some wine.

I found cheap flights today and cleared it with the hubby.  I want in.

Can I waitlist myself for a ticket if another one comes available?  Hopefully before the cost of flights increases again!

Look out Volley Hockey Ball - I'm coming for you. . .

Need to look up the rules again. How did we say defectors get dealt with? Was there a firehose of Jello involved?

I prefer cherry flavour, or lime, or cherry/lime?  You did say firehose of Jello shooters, right?

Naw, someone around here has to work.

I can give you a haircut - do you prefer bald or balder?

I'm trying to book a flight, but do not yet have access to the specific 2018 forum to ask this question:

Is anyone making a break for YYZ (or the general vicinity) Monday?

I have the choice of a 4pm flight (which could get me home that day), or 7:30pm (I would have to overnight in Calgary before going the rest of the way.)  Prices have already gone up 10% since yesterday, so I am keen to book this ASAP!

(Feel free to PM me if you don't want to clutter this up.)

I hitched a ride with @avrex last year - any chance you are staying until Monday again?

Ttm, make sure to use incognito browser when booking, airlines track your IP and raise prices to cause a reaction to make you book. It's pretty icky, but avoidable.

If you check while incognito, the price should go back down.

I thought that only happened to people with Apple products!?!  (That is what I remembered hearing years ago when people first brought this up.)  Thank you for the reminder though!

I checked quickly using incognito, and a different device - appears that I missed the super cheap price, but it is still much better than what I paid last year.  Now to hit GO before it jumps again. . .

I can't confirm yet, but hopefully, I will stay until Monday.
So, yes, @ToTheMoon I'm pretty sure either I or someone else can get you to the airport.

I'm not sure if our car from CM*TO to Toronto on Monday is full. Check the secret forum area for CM*TO and find our discussion there.

Three bunks are available!

A few campers are unable to make it, so we have three spots available if you would like to attend CM*TO but haven't snagged a spot yet.  This is a great opportunity for a couple, a group of friends, or a family to attend the event.  If you're ready to confirm and make full payment please PM me and I will get you in touch with the camper(s) with a bunk to sell.  (First come, first served.)

Can I ask that folks check in at the 'new' secret forum hosted here by ARS, and let me know if things are working for you. I'll start a roll call thread, and you can just answer with "here" or similar.

I've been under a rock for the past six weeks. Can someone direct me to the top secret forum? Thanks.  :)

*** BREAKING NEWS ***

I haven't even told the org committee yet...

Just spoke with my main man Paul, and got some important tidbits...

  • At camp this year there will be 52% more falafels.
  • We will have about 3 hours of free use on the High Ropes course. By "we" I mean people other than me, 'cause I'm chicken.
  • We will have about 3 hours of lifeguard time which means use of camp canoes and waterfront for swimming (if you're brave enough).

I've also heard from @BiochemicalDJ - sounds like we have a sound system for Karaoke AND permission to tweak sound settings in both the main hall and chow hall - which was one of the biggest issues we had for camp last year. Yay for hearing!!

And for everyone's benefit, I have been made to take an oath that this will be a cowbell-free camp. I am depressed, but I understand that this is for the good of all.

That's a promise you can't make. You can only take an oath that you won't use a cowbell.

What's high ropes? Apart from ropes at a high location.

This is AWESOME, and probably the only thing really missing last year (no swimming or paddling without a certified lifeguard on duty).  I will amend the packing list to include swim stuff!  🏊🚣

Something like unto that which is pictured here:

I so want to do the high ropes thing, even though heights are bad and I'm the opposite of athletic. Sounds fun!

With RubyUnrailed not coming this year, who is running the karaoke?
I am a former teacher who accumulated a bunch of real estate, retired at 29, spent some time traveling the world full time and am now settled with three kids.
If you want to know more about me, this Business Insider profile tells the story pretty well.
I (rarely) blog at AdventuringAlong.com. Check out the Now page to see what I'm up to currently.

Also, I am very excited by extra falafel, swimming, and especially the ropes course (I have always wanted to try one!)

I MAY miss the cowbell, and keep in mind, @Prospector may be capable of coming up with something even more cringe-worthy!  Airhorn?  Bugle?  90's hip hop?

But Mercedes is down following the Iran sanctions, so if I buy it (and maybe Peugeot) I should see a nice fat rebound in about a year... I know this because I'm so S-M-R-T!!

Nice. Grant's a good choice for speaker. I'm excited about that one.

Have all of the speakers/sessions been decided?
I am a former teacher who accumulated a bunch of real estate, retired at 29, spent some time traveling the world full time and am now settled with three kids.

Glad to hear it. I am too, but it's tough to make decisions across the different topics. :)

We have one more to announce (my fault, I haven't confirmed the description with the folks leading it) and I have a slot which may or may not be filled.

Awesome. I think I missed some of the announcements! Would you mind aggregating them all somewhere (in this thread, or in the CMTO subforum)? :)

IMPORTANT WAITLIST/RESALE INFORMATION

Within the next week, camp organizers will cease to take names for the waitlist or to resell bunks. This close to camp we cannot shuffle room assignments, make changes to T-shirt orders, or manage changes for diet restrictions.

If you have been waiting for a bunk, there are currently a handful available. Please email or PM myself or OKITS.
If you need to sell a bunk, I strongly suggest you do so independently. We currently have a surplus of resale bunks.

Also a reminder to everyone that while have attempted to resell bunks, but cannot not make any guarantee of a resale, and that we cannot refund the purchase. Please be kind to the volunteers running this event.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On a more personal/explanatory level, I will be out of the country for 2 weeks starting on Friday, and all the loose ends of camp need to be wrapped up before I go. Immediately on my return, we will be securing food and  receiving T-shirts, receiving schwag and printing programmes and name tags. Basically we have this week to organize the entire camp, then away for 2 weeks, then one week to get everything made for camp, and one week to put all the pieces together.
Currently we have about a half-dozen people attempting to change plans and sell bunks. I respect that changes happen, but we are late into the game, and I suspect that everyone will not be accommodated through the org committee. On the other hand, my reach on the forum is limited, and the resellers may be better at posting places I don't see to better market their bunks.
If your patience is thin, I understand. I also ask for your  understanding that its awful late for people to be making a decision to come to camp.
Are people still dropping out at this late stage??? And expecting the committee (one of whom is about to make bicycling history and bicycle from Toronto to New York just to visit a roller coaster - surely there are closer ones) to repay for the tickets and get replacement campers???
I thought organisation was at the heart of mustashianism. The committee deserve halos.
Getting super excited for Camp!! It's just a little over a month away now. Last year's was insanely awesome.
For last year's attendees, what were your favourite (Cdn spelling!) memories?
I remember being so impressed by the thought and effort Prospector put into making it a GREAT camp - managing the fine balance between interesting sessions and plenty of relaxed, free time to have fascinating discussions with fabulous Mustachians. Oh and the insane chaos of VolleyHockeyBall, of course! Best game on the planet! (I admit to a slight bias haha)
----------
Camp Mustache Toronto (Sep 21-23) is where all the cool Mustachians will be gathering for meatball parties,  karaoke in the bell tower and VolleyHockeyBall!
