I will add a link in my signature, since I am already guaranteed a spot I am selfless. You may want to clarify in the lottery link that it's $265 CA / approx $42 US, for all the dummies out there.

I SPECIALIZE IN TWO OF THOSE TOPICS, Prospector. I will be submitting a proposal.

Also if I come, the karaoke comes.

Just sent in a proposal.

Would love to see one or two labs or workshops - like the QuestTrade questions, but maybe with more offerings (says the person who never quite figures out how to really use Personal Capital, so just stops using it); and side gigs / hacking options.

Lots of resources and apps etc. are thrown out on the forum and in discussions - and I either forget them, or don't quite catch the name.  I'm willing to help organize that sort of info.

Oh a side gigs one, great idea!

Add that to my list, Prospector (or anyone else can feel free to claim it, too.)
I am a former teacher who accumulated a bunch of real estate, retired at 29, spent some time traveling the world full time and am now settled with three kids.
If you want to know more about me, this Business Insider profile tells the story pretty well.

Where is that list?

I`d have a recommendation for urban bartering (trading expenses/hobbies for volunteer work) So far, with only 3 months in Ottawa, I've found that a winery and rock climbing gym that is open to trade memberships & use of equipment for taking a couple of shifts as ''volunteers'' (Making wine with all the fancy equipment from the wine making stores is so much faster and simpler than at home.)

Oh, I just meant the list of sessions I emailed Prospector I'd be interested in running (see earlier discussion in the thread).  :)

Once he finalizes breakout sessions, I'm sure a list will be posted, right now it's:
MonkeyJenga doing Angry Life Cheerleading
CanuckExpat doing Post-FIRE life

Both of these are repeats from this year, by popular demand.

Email Prospector any session ideas you have that you want to run (or just that you would like to see run, even, and he can try to find a speaker, I'd bet).

Correct - I am running a list of volunteers who would like to run sessions.  Based on exit surveys I have selected a few session leaders for 2018, the remaining spots will be discussed/selected by the Org. Committee.

Its not that bad Dee... I can give you updates while you wait if you'd like...

Tonight the HR dept and I arranged the tracking mechanisms for attendees and worked out communication paths. Once we know that all the pieces are in place for payments, we will be ready to move ahead with the lottery.

I'm sorry if you already stated this somewhere, but how much time do you expect between, "Congrats, you're in," and "payment is due?"

If we are honored/lucky enough to have the opportunity to attend again, we might be travelling in an RV and bringing a 9 yr old.  Cheapskate Hubs and I would be happy to lead a kid friendly activity (hike/nature walk, craft, etc)  if there are other folks who are bringing their young-ins.

Synergize the optimization.

Only if you can operationalize it and disaggregate the drivers

No way, this made me giggle hysterically :)  Might be a humblebrag, definitely excited about homeschooling, and so grateful to have attended and spoken up during the angry life cheerleader breakout session.  I honestly don't think we would have committed without being shamed into it :)  It would have been OMY forever...

I fail at self care too.

Do you put it on the calendar (e.g. your work meeting/schedule e-calendar)? If not, do it - block the time. If you are not healthy and taken care of and break down, the tasks won't get done. You are more healthy, efficient, productive, and happier if you take care of yourself.  DO IT!

Check your inbox! Tonight I sent out the CM*TO winning emails. If you got a bunk you have until Feb. 1 to send in payment.

I will be sending out the waitlist emails tomorrow... or Tuesday.

Please remember to have your SO check their email as well if you both entered for a bunk. They may have won instead of you.*

*Ahem, Jordan.

Going to bed now - I've seen enough folks acknowledge receipt on the forum that I'm pretty confident everything went through alright.

Prospector would know the numbers, but I think at least 10-15 folks last year were off the wait list, though some were at very short notice so were mainly Canadians with less complicated travel arrangements.

We have about 30 people on the waitlist. I imagine some of those are more eager than others to snag a spot. Also, nothing forces anyone to resell their spot through me if plans change, so if you make it known you are looking for a bunk, you may be able to make a deal and let me know afterwards rather than playing waitlist roulette.

Heh, UH's story was definitely campfire fodder.

(It was in the midst of everything; literally the day CMC started, the wife suddenly was unsure about signing the closing paperwork for the house.)

Some people were not familiar, so we were able to share the heartbreaking tale of the most stoic man on the forums.

I'm glad it will be a much happier story by September.

Glad I inspire a story or 2!!

She'd already said yes to signing the paperwork so I could buy a house.
She said she'd do it 2 months prior to closing even though she claimed her lawyer said it was a bad idea.

I spoke to my lawyer who came back to me on the day of closing to say that the wife's lawyer was fine with it as long as the money was accounted for in the settlement.

I informed my wife where she needed to be to sign the documents and the night before closing she declared that she wouldn't sign which would have sank the whole deal and left me homeless.*

She finally emailed the morning of closing to agree to sign (there's another story deep in there but doesn't matter in this context).
I did not get much sleep that night!!

and they wondered why i'd turned down going to the camp in favor of staying behind and getting the closing done....

*One of the plans was to move back to the house that morning if she refused to sign as we still both owned it and both had rights to be in there. I think that may have made her reconsider if it had gone that far....
I would also have rented a house and, once the settlement was done, sued her for the difference in price plus equity loss.
I didn't need to do any of that as it turned out but holy crap - what a 24 hours that was....

Yeah, that was the capper on the craziness that was your story.

Oof. What a rollercoaster.
I am a former teacher who accumulated a bunch of real estate, retired at 29, spent some time traveling the world full time and am now settled with three kids.
If you want to know more about me, this Business Insider profile tells the story pretty well.

So that was why you stood us up!??!

Lack of dedication I say. It would have been nice if you had had a reasonable excuse. I'll let it go in exchange for a sixer of Innis and Gunn.

We'd appreciate it if you could speak English, but if you talk it then that's OK too.

Totally. Our other English speaker--ExFlyBoy--bailed on us, too.

The closest we had was an Australian.
