Check your car insurance to see if you'd even be covered, or ask the question about insurance from the company. $8 a delivery sounds insanely low, unless they're seriously limiting your range. You'd have to go from your house to the flower place to the delivery address then back to your house. Gas prices are climbing - there's a lot of idling with a gig like that.

Side note, what the heck is a 1099x? I thought contractors/1099 employees had to provide a W-9: https://www.irs.gov/forms-pubs/about-form-w-9

I haven't kept up with tax changes for a few years but I never heard of a 1099x and couldn't find any results on the IRS site. Are you sure this isn't a scam?

I think overall profitability depends on how well organized the florist and you are. 20-40 deliveries for the day and they want you to have a van, sounds like 2 round trips total. Will need to really load up the vehicle, pack lots of filler material to they all stay upright and don’t get squished. Hopefully florist has deliveries all divided up by region so the various drivers aren’t crisscrossing territory. I’m also curious, logistically, how they decide which orders to make first and which driver takes them. Rather than stand around, waiting for 20 arrangements to get made, someone with a small car might push to take just 5 and be off.

Will they actually have that figured out or will you be thrown into their madness? This would be most important to me to try and find out ahead.

Edited to add— plus range of delivery distance. Also very important.
