Trying to go car "free"
« on: July 09, 2015, 07:32:38 PM »
Hello!

So, I just sold my car and cancelled my insurance and will soon be moving to a city with my fiance. We will be downtown so I am planning to bike or walk almost everywhere. I will be within a mile of my workplace won't need a car except for maybe a couple times a month where I would have to drive to our other office (a 15 min drive or 50 min bike). I think it would be silly to pay up to $75 a month for insurance to use my fiance's car maybe a couple times. Considering just taking an Uber when I need to go to the other office. I also realized that my "risk" as a driver may have gone up since I cancelled my insurance. Any advice?

How about public transportation options?

What's wrong with biking for 50 minutes one way a couple times a month?

Yeah, maybe I'm being a wimp about not biking 100%. From what i've heard it might not be a super safe area and its a pretty big uphill on the way to work. Again - maybe just being a wimp.

Haha yea sounds complainypants to me ;)

At least give it a go before committing to a more costly solution.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
