Hello,
who here uses their work phone as their personal phone? I currently carry two cellular phones. A work issued Blackberry and my personal Galaxy Nexus. I'm tired of of dealing with two phones and am thinking of porting my number to Google Voice and swapping the Nexus as the work phone. I can't think of any downsides. With Google Voice my texts could remain private and I rarely make calls on my phone. Saving $65 a month sure would be nice. Seems I'm over-thinking this and it'd be a no-brainer to make the switch.

My work phone is also my personal phone. I didn't use it excessively for personal reasons before taking the job, so figured my employer wouldn't have an issue with the few personal calls / texts I do make.
It does save money and is much less hassle - however there is a downside in not being able to switch off when you're away from work.

I've used my work cell phone as my personal cell for well over 10 years! In the last couple years I got my real estate license and thought it probably wasn't a good idea to post my work cell (on real estate signs) so I got a google voice number that automatically rolls to my cell phone.

My husband did this exact thing, and he loves it. His texts/call history remain private, and he retained his phone number. I'd definitely go for it.
