Title: Windows Question

I have a question that I probably already know the answer to, but I want to check before I order a tower since I haven't really used windows 10. I avoid windows when I can.

I need to map a folder for some software. Basically I need to enter the share "\\computer\share name" style for a database path in the software.

Can I map from a Windows 10 home to a Windows 7 pro in this fashion, or is there anything weird and new in Windows 10 to prevent it?

I will be setting the password for the user account the same on both pcs so it doesn't ask for a password (the software requires this).

It should be fine, or you could set the share to have permissions for user group 'Everyone' and then you don't have to worry about synchronizing accounts.

The  PC hosting the shared folder will need to have file sharing enabled and the two PCs will need to be on the same network.

Thanks. The computer with the share is actually Windows XP Pro.

So it would be connecting a Windows 10 home machine to a share Windows XP Pro on a workgroup
