Whole House Fan in NE
«

Does anybody have and use a whole house fan in the NE. They sound perfect to cut down on AC but i have read that they don't do much good when it is humid and could possibly create mold issues if used when humid. I know people in CO that have them and that is like the perfect place for them - low humidity, crisp cool nights.
Any specific recommendations.

My parents live in Cincinnati and have one. It blows air out of the attic, and they run it at night in the summer. It really cools down the house, and they've never had mold problems or anything like that with it.

My mom has and uses one in the SE and I wish we did too -- if/when we remodel (also in the SE) I will get one, not as a replacement for a/c but as an alternative.
It is humid here and of course they do nothing whatsoever to reduce that. But as an affordable way to cool down the house my mom's is great.
