Who do you use for your HSA?
« on: June 10, 2022, 09:30:02 AM »
I recently changed jobs and my employer doesn't provide an HSA.  The fees went way up on the account provided by my former employer - I'm considering moving it elsewhere, looking for recommendations!

Fidelity, no fees. I switched from healthequity which had some fees.

Lively, no fees, easy to use app. Their investment partner is td Ameritrade, I purchase Vanguard VTI through them.
Lively pulls from my checking account, then I transfer from Lively to TD in the Lively app.

Having done some research, I'll switch to Fidelity post-retirement.  Fidelity is good for a one stop shop, if you already use it.  Lively was the other good option.

I need to look into Fidelity it seems. I have a different account there.
The HSA Authority (Old National Bank) recently decided to get out of the HSA business and turned my wife's HSA account over to UMB Bank. So far I have been pretty disappointed with interactions and what I've been able to learn about UMB. She's going part-time so will need to contribute her catch-up contribution after tax now.
I have an account from former employer with HSA Bank. Can't say I've been impressed by them either though they used to be recommended here. I think they charge $25 to close but also require $3000 in cash account to not get charged monthly fee.
My current employer uses Bank of America, and, yes, they also do not impress me. :( I think they charge to do rollovers/transfers but haven't been able to get confirmation from them on that yet.

Oh wow, I had my HSA at what appears to be a terrible provider.  Moving to Fidelity now. Thanks!

+1 for Fidelity. Switched some years ago after a change of employer and it has been great.

Another one for Fidelity. Moved DW and I over from HSA Bank and have been very happy.

My employer uses HSA bank which links with TD Ameritrade for the investment side.  They are decent otherwise I’d also be at fidelity.

I have a friend who works for Fidelity in the HSA department. I spoke with him over the holidays and he mentioned that it's possible to make a transfer from any HSA custodian to Fidelity. You just open an HSA with Fidelity and make periodic lump sum transfers. So you could save up funds with HSA Bank on a rolling basis, then after a year and years after that make a transfer to your Fidelity account and choose investments from there. It's a great workaround for whatever your employer offers.

We have a zero fee HSA through Lively, serviced by TD Ameritrade. Apparently they're going through an acquisition by Charles Schwab and are introducing a $24 annual overhead fee. I also haven't been able to see what funds will be available after transition, and what their fees might be.

We'll be switching to fidelity if Schwab doesn't have any low fee fund options

To close the loop, I ended up finalizing the transfer to Fidelity - it was all way easier than I thought it would be. Thanks again for the recommendation!

I have the same setup. Have you received notification about this? I saw something about this on reddit, but haven't seen anything official. Was hoping we might be grandfathered in lol.

I have Lively and haven't heard about this either. On the Lively website it still says the HSA is no fee, so maybe it's just on the Schwab side?

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
