Which company to get a Mortgage Refinanced
« on: April 24, 2012, 05:40:14 PM »
Hello Everyone,

I was convinced by some MMM folks to consider a refinance on my mortgage. I currently have a 30 year mortgage at 5.0% and my credit is around 700.

I've had two quotes for 15 year mortgages me paying closing costs at 3.25% and a no closing cost option at 3.5%. I have been working with a broker that was recommended by a friend. I like this person okay, but would like to check around to see if there are some better options online.

Any suggestions of companies I should take a look at? I live in NC if that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance.

You might want to look at ING and maybe call a couple of other places to get rates.  We've used Northern Trust and Chase for all our mortgages.  We did try ING, but had issues due to our income situation, but someone in a more "normal" situation might have some luck with them.  Good luck!

We just finished a refi with AIM Mortgage (internet company). The process was smooth and the rates were pretty unbeatable: 2.875% for 15 year with half a point, and I think it has actually gone down a little since we closed. Looks like the same loan is 2.75% for the same product.

Also, try starting at step 4 of http://www.mtgprofessor.com/steps/ListOfSteps.html

Was this a cash out, or did you pay closing costs out of pocket? The cash-out rate is still at 2.875% with half a point.

I just refinanced, and I don't want to do it again! But I'm at 3.75% on a 15-year loan.

No cash out, I paid CCs out of pocket.
