Title: Where to get shower glass?
Post by: tomorrowsomewherenew on September 25, 2017, 03:30:10 PM
We live in a cookie cutter neighborhood of houses thrown up in the mid-90s. The houses originally sold for maybe $120k. Given that, I have a difficult time believing we need to get custom glass for our shower door replacement, but I can't find what I need anywhere.

We have a standard size shower door which attaches to another piece of glass on a knee wall (half height wall) at the corner. This piece of the glass above the knee wall is roughly 22" x 31".  Where do I shop for something like this without spending big bucks?

A local glass shop- let your fingers do the walking and call around. Chances are- one will also do shower glass. I would not have guessed that a few years ago when shopping for a custom glass door.

We got ours online.  I can't remember exactly where because it's been a number of years now, but search for a shower door with the measurements you need and I'm sure something will come up.  For us, it was exponentially cheaper than using a custom place that we were willing to risk it not working/fitting/being crappy.  Luckily, none of that happened and we saved a fortune.

Iíve had them made at a local glass & mirror store. Nowadays you can get them at Home Depot.

I planned to use https://www.framelessshowerdoors.com/ until I found a cheaper frameless shower door on Overstock.com.

I had called all the guys in the yellow pages and their prices were about 4 times that frameless shower doors, but I ended up getting a good door from overstock for about 60% of the price.
