Title says it all, we are looking for another company, since our rates will double in a few months.

Thank you.

I had independent insurance a few different times for many years, but the fact is (in the US), your choices are very limited since Obamacare.  I got dumped by insurance and told I had to purchase through the exchange.  Even if I kept the same exact plan, I had to purchase through the exchange.  not really sure why that was, it just was.  If you're in the US, check healthcare.gov and they'll direct you to your state exchange if there is one.

If you want (and qualify for) subsidies, definitely go through your state health exchange marketplace. Otherwise you can try ehealthinsurance.com, a private health care exchange where you can look at some of the individual plans offered in your zip code. You may need to wait for open enrollment later this year if you want to browse all coverage options as opposed to just short term coverage options.
