Title: Where to eat; Dallas addition
Post by: wealthviahealth on March 01, 2015, 06:03:08 AM
I have received so many great travel and restaurant recommendations on here and would love to hear
any food recommendations for Dallas Texas.

I will be there for 5 days and would like to eat only at the best "foodie" spots.
Where have you eaten/ what do you recommend?

Stephan Pyles
Dean Fearing
The Mansion
Neighborhood Services
Chamberlains (steak & seafood)
Sushi: Blue Fish (on Greenville Ave), Axiom (far north)
Canary by Gorji (far north)
Peggy Sue BBQ (Snider Plaza)

One fun thing to do is a walking food tour. Dallas has one in the Uptown area. Advance reservations required. http://www.toursdallas.net

This is my opinion only, sushi in Dallas is all pretty much the same - no difference in freshness, but there might be some Texas style rolls that are regional (I'm not sure) - I do like the volcano rolls

I agree on Neighborhood Services and Stephan Pyles, but also check out Cane Rosso for neopolitan pizza, Smoke (bbq/brunch), Hard 8 (bbq, in Coppell), Parma (Italian, in Lewisville), Victor Tango (american)

Look around in the bishop arts and trinity groves areas, lots of up and coming restaurants

If you are ever in Plano, you should go to Simon's Sushi. Your opinion might be swayed.

Some great recommendations however most will leave you paying $20+ a plate. Instead of recommending the usual expensive nonsense I'll give you some good mustachian joints:

Truck Yard : Sit outside on a nice day and pick your poison of some of the best food trucks in Dallas!
Lockhart: Barbeque.
Velvet Taco: Dallas knows it's tacos. I could recommend five other great similar taco joints!
Bread Winners: Brunch! A Dallas staple, has gotten pricier (10-14 a plate) but still worth it.
Banditos: Best tex-mex in Dallas IMO

Enjoy!

I agree on Hard 8 in Coppell; great BBQ and its minutes from DFW airport.

For a non expensive but super tasty meal, LA burger in North Irving is awesome. Great burgers.

I've actually gone, tho it was probably about 6 years ago now. Went with a friend who knew the chef/owner, and it was good, but I didn't think there was a difference between that and blue fish - it is entirely possible that I don't have a good palate for fresh fish tho : )
